November 20, was a great day in the Lord... PDF Print E-mail
Dr. Chuck Terrill
Every Sunday at VCCC is a good Sunday, but Sunday, November 20, was a great day in the Lord. It was such a joy to participate in the ordination of Chris and Mary Moon. It brought back so many memories to me, of my own ordination. I was 32 years old, and so honored to be ordained into the ministry of Jesus Christ. I know that Chris and Mary feel the same way. The extended Moon family worshipped with us, and that made the day all the more special. It was a delight to have Chris and Mary's children join us on the stage for a picture to commemorate the occasion.

Special thanks to Mike Simmon and our praise team for a great worship opportunity. They led us in worship songs that Chris and Mary had selected as some of their favorites. Many of them were my favorites, too. There is something about worshipping with a large group (230!) that adds to the worship experience.

Thanks also to Nita Sherrill, Rhonda Price, and all the others who helped to put together the holiday meal. There were lots of tables and chairs to move and set up. The decorations were great, I know that took a lot of time. The food was excellent, and there was so much of it! The clean up went smoothly. I appreciate all of you who so willingly pitch in to work. It was a holiday meal to remember!

Thank you for your generous Thanksgiving Offering. You will notice that we “under-advertise” events like the annual Thanksgiving Offering. But, you always respond so generously. Nearly $11,000. was given on Nov. 20 (the exact amount is printed in the newsletter, elsewhere). Thank You!

A few weeks ago, Al Tigard striped the parking lot with fresh yellow paint. It was a lot of work, but I know you appreciate it. Also, Bob Sitts and Bill Dysart shoveled about 10 tons of mulch in the playground to make that area safer for kids. I appreciate their hard work.

I have mentioned a few people by name, but I am thankful for all of you. You will receive this letter after Thanksgiving Day, but I want you to know that I am thankful for you every day. I am grateful to start my seventh year at VCCC. In the Old Testament, every seventh year is a Year of Jubilee! I think it is going to be that way for our church. God is going to bless our every effort, and He is going to receive much praise from us. God is so good.

This is a busy time of the year. Please invite your friends to join us for worship on Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. and Christmas morning for one service at 10 a.m. Please also be prepared to find a creative way to park at these 2 services. Feel free to park between the parking lot and 5th Street, on the grass.

This newsletter is filled with activities and events. Take part in as many of them as you can, but don't get so busy that you neglect your personal devotional life. We have so much to be thankful for.

Thankfully His,

Dr. Chuck Terrill
Minister
